World War I. A deadly war that over took a large portion of Europe. Many things can be said on the subject of the war. It was brutal, with soldiers facing months in trenches filled with sickness, and other terrible conditions, over 60 million lives were lost. A total of about 3% of the world's population at the time. What would it take to survive such a bloody war? Why was it so bloody? Well, one of the causes was new technology. With new weapons such as rapid-firing machine guns, lethal poisonous gas, and submarines that could go underwater and undetected, the Great War became a war of the new age. If you want to survive such a struggle for life, you'll need the best equipment you can get.
Industrialization had quite an effect on the way the war was fought. Not only did new inventions and ideas create new opportunities for different kinds of warfare, it allowed warfare to become more complex and varied then ever before. An example would be of Henry Bessemer's steel-making process. Henry Bessemer's steel-making process made mass production of steel become much easier, and with that, the production of weapons made from steel. That's not the only thing the industrialization period had influence over. Things like writing home, and transporting troops as well as many other things all became easier because of the spread of Industrialization.
